COURTLANDS TODAY Courtlands is a pleasant, well-managed private estate on the east side of Richmond set in extensive, well-kept grounds parts which are maintained as they were in the middle of the 19th century. There are eleven blocks (six built in the 1930s and five in the 1960s) comprising a total of 238 flats ranging in size from one bedroom to three bedrooms, the majority having two bedrooms. The estate is within easy walking distance of the centres of both Richmond and Sheen – about ten minutes in each case – and is well served by public transport. North Sheen station (overland railway to Waterloo) is about five minutes walk away, Richmond station (overland rail connections and underground) is about ten minutes walk and buses (stops opposite and very close) run frequently to Richmond, Sheen, Hammersmith, Clapham Junction, Kingston etc. A mile away lie Kew Gardens and a brief walk takes you into Richmond Park whilst the delights of walking by the river are also within easy reach. |
